Starring Ranveer Singh, 83 released at the end of last year on December 24th domestically in Indian theatres alone. Internationally, however, the film opened three days earlier – on December 23rd – taking 1512 screens across 80 different countries worldwide, collecting $1.57 million USD [Rs. 11.8 crores] on its opening day (Day 1). This number surpassed expectations and was even able to collect more money than blockbuster Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi (a total of $1.08 million USD) despite being released internationally two days later and having one less screen available for viewing because Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home also debuted this…
83, directed by Kabir Khan and starring Ranveer Singh in his debut Bollywood film, was first released on the evening of Christmas Eve (December 24) domestically in India. However, international markets like America received the movie three days later than its initial release date (Christmas Day). Internationally there are 44 screens showing 83 that are spread out over three countries – Saudi Arabia, UAE (United Arab Emirates), and Qatar. Overall today, November 22nd marks the opening day where 83 has overtaken Sooryavanshi’s numbers during this time frame across all these three countries according to Box Office Mojo. DAY 1 OF…
Ranveer Singh’s 83 couldn’t capitalize on the Christmas holiday as it accumulated about Rs. 15.50 to 16.50 crores over two days, leading up to a little under Rs. 30 crore in total after just two days of its release. This figure doesn’t live up to expectations given that an expensive production like 83 was supposed to make at least half of this amount per day (Rs 11-12 crores). The cinema halls were boosted on day one with people spending around Rs 7-9 crore but dropped down by about 20% on day 2 resulting in less than half what they spent…
The Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 continues to experience positivity from Indian audiences as well. After facing both the Hollywood blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home and newly released Ranveer Singh starrer 83, it has fast emerged as an audience favorite. For now, on Day 9, the Hindi version of Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 has seen a net additional Rs. 3.75 cr come in for its box office collection totals. The film starring Allu Arjun continues to rake in big numbers in both Hindi and the South. With its Christmas Eve release, it will continue…
Another Saturday of successful theatre days! Collecting an additional amount of Rs. 30 crores, this could very well turn out to be one of the best weekends yet. With over ten theatres across India having high attendance rates, all three films – Spider-man: No Way Home, 83 and Pushpa (Hindi) – have been making a lot of money from their ticket sales so far. 83 was the highest-grossing film of the day, accumulating an additional Rs. 16.95 crores at the box office after Sooryavanshi became a success. This is only the second Hindi film to perform well so far this…
The Mahesh Manjrekar directed film Antim – The Final Truth released a few weeks ago. Featuring Salman Khan and brother-in-law Aayush Sharma in leading roles the film opened on a good note. With immense hype surrounding the film and constant promotions, the box office business of Antim reflected positive numbers. On its second Saturday running, Antim experienced solid growth spurt with Rs. 1.76 cr coming in. Although it saw an increase from its second Friday collections of Rs. 1.25 cr – what matters is that Antim was up against two other new releases at theaters – one being Sooryavanshi and…
The Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi has been unstoppable at the box office for nearly three weeks now and was earning so much that it quickly gained to over Rs. 200 Cr. Over time, it could finally reach the lofty accomplishment of being able to hit more than even the most well-to-do blockbuster films. In just five days, moreover, he drew in an additional sum worth 66 lakhs as he grew steadily towards his milestones – this success may have also had something to do with a major coup (at least according to Bollywood Cinema) – releasing on popular online video…
Recently, producer Sajid Nadiawala unveiled his latest endeavor ‘Tadap’ starring Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria which was helmed by director Milan Luthria. On Friday the movie premiered to a lavish crowd of celebrities from all walks of life including Hollywood stars. After opening up in 457 theaters abroad, reviews have been favourable so far, with ticket sales remaining relatively stagnant across regions when compared to Day One. Day 2 Australia box office 5,764 USD [Rs. 4.33 lacs] from 28 screens New Zealand box office 2,735 USD [Rs. 2.05 lacs] from 12 screens U.K box office 14,948 USD [Rs. 11.24 lacs]…
It was predicted in this column that Tadap would see an opening day in the range of Rs. 3-4 crores. Well, the film has done better as it has opened on the higher end of the spectrum with Rs. 4.05 crores coming in. This is good because even though the pandemic is coming to a close, a film needs to be truly special for audiences to step out of their homes. If Tadap really turned out to be India’s chosen one then there may actually be some credibility behind its success due solely unto itself! To think of it, there…
