The Ajay Devgn-starring film Runway 34 was released some time ago now. However, despite the hype and promotion for this film, it has performed poorly so far – which is perhaps due to the number of films released around or before it. In its fourth week, Runway 34 has garnered an additional Rs. 74 lakhs for a total of Rs. 32.96 crore after four weeks out at the box office despite the film facing stiff competition from other recent releases – RRR and KGF 2- both maintaining strong performances days after their theatrical release date; going forward, even if it…
With every passing day, hopes of how well Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will do have been growing in a significant way. Initially, many were curious if the film would even break opening records – but then people wanted to know if it could become an Indian cinema giant. Some wondered if this would be the most profitable collaboration for director Anees Bazmee and actor Kartik Aaryan; others wanted to know if Rs.150 crores lifetime earnings was feasible – but now people are asking if Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has a chance of reaching an even higher milestone of Rs.175 crores lifetime earnings!…
This week, director Anees Bazmee released his new movie Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani to an overwhelming reception. The movie premiered on about 3200 screens around the country (over 2700 domestically) which led it to make Rs. 50 crores during just one weekend- record breaking for Indian movies. Reviews from audiences and critics alike have been overwhelmingly positive so far with the majority of people booking tickets in advance before even seeing it, meaning that this film will be unstoppable in India because there’s not much stopping it. In just eight days since its release, Bhool…
The star-studded action drama Dhaakad, starring Kangana Ranaut that was released only a week ago, has met mediocre success at the Box Office despite heavy promotion before its release. The film did not find many viewers because it lacked the interest and engagement of people. As such, business for the movie remained low. Overseas, too, Dhaakad has not been doing well. With figures such as these from the United States – the country where Kangana Ranaut’s film debuted at – it became clear that success for her venture in foreign countries would not be met with any great reception either.…
The movie Jayeshbhai Jordaar, starring Ranveer Singh, which was released two weeks ago has been a disappointment. Even after beginning mildly well the first few days at the theaters it continued to draw an equally unimpressive audience in its second week of release too. Despite receiving glowing reviews from critics, Jayeshbhai Jordaar was unsuccessful in attracting viewers. Second week earnings amounted to only Rs. 64 lakhs- drawing a total of Rs. 15.59 crores after two weeks in theaters. This poor performance can be attributed to the failure of this Hindi language film to attract audiences in the single screens dominated…
The opening day numbers for Anek were shockingly low, coming in at around Rs.2.11 crores despite the overwhelming promotion and an intense narrative; it seems that this is all due to a very small turnout from people looking for something serious today because Ayushmann Khurrana did give a solid performance as well. Now all we can hope for is a major turn-around over these next couple days so that the film can start gaining momentum again! Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources.
Kartik Aaryan led Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is set for a superb second weekend of over Rs. 25 crores as the second Friday has held on very well. After the first week brought in Rs. 92.05 crores, the second Friday held on quite well with Rs. 6.52 crores coming in. This is not much of a drop when compared to Thursday numbers of Rs. 7.27 crores, and that too when Bollywood films such as Anek and Top Gun: Maverick arrive alongside it – though they don’t seem to effect its box office performance at all, continuing its semi-uninterrupted run at number…
Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad is turning into one of the worst films ever made. Most theaters have decided to stop showing this disappointing action thriller at their cinema house, but some are still playing it. Estimates show that Dhaakad has made around $4, 420 in India over its eight day run – an amount worth less than 8 dollars! Only about 20 people were seen watching the film during its second Friday screenings across the country. Dhaakad was one of the most expensive female-led films in Bollywood history, and the losses incurred were some of the largest ever seen by any…
Bhoool Bhulaiyaa 2 recorded an excellent hold in collections on the second Friday. Estimates say that on its 8th day, it had collected approximately Rs. 6.30 to Rs 6.70 crores and had taken the total collections of this horror comedy film up to about 98 crores (about $14 million). The movie is slated to make Rs. 100 crores on its first day, making it the highest-grossing film in India until now for Kartik Aaryan. With just two days left until the Friday premiere, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has recorded Rs. 108.95 crores–leaving it one billion away from being a blockbuster yet…
The Indian Film Anek starring Ayushmann Khurrana has had a very disappointing performance domestically. Early estimates place the film’s opening day earnings between Rs. 1-2 crores, which is considerably lower than optimistic expectations of 3 crores on opening day. This performance is around 50% of what his previous release Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui earned domestically on it’s first day. The pandemic took a toll on the audiences for all actors appealing to an urban audience, and Ayushmann seems to be the worst impacted. His two recent movies opened with little success, proving that people are gradually moving towards watching movies online…
