The Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam released 22 days ago at the China box office and has already hit USD 1 million after a mere 7 days, according to Box Office India. However, it seems that this film might not reach its full potential here in the People’s Republic because of the recent problems relating to Ebola which are affecting some areas of China.
Drishyam is only seeing slow growth – yet it still hasn’t broken 3.5 million US dollars in ticket sales – because some theaters across Mainland China have closed down due to worries over contracting Ebola or other diseases, thanks to one person who had traveled there from Canada recently dying from SARS-like symptoms. Even though people are now getting vaccinated when they travel internationally to avoid future outbreaks while they’re abroad; people are still wary about visiting countries with Ebola outbreaks such as Guinea, Liberia or Sierra Leone where cases can be found.
