Outside the event films like KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR, the other south dubbed movies that have done decently well at the box office this year are PS-1, Rocketry and Karthikeya 2. Well, Kantara [Hindi] already surpassed PS-1 [Hindi]’s score of Rs. 24.50 crores a few days ago and now it has exceeded Rocketry’s score of Rs. 26.05 crores too – for only 28 days! Soon after these scores surpasses Karthikeya 2’s lifetime earnings of Rs. 31.05 crores – but there was no telling when precisely that will happen yet!
This film is an underdog – while there were many other Hindi releases, Kantara managed to make a profit amidst them. This is largely due to how strong the film has remained even after its release. Day by day, the collection only seemed to grow and didn’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon. Even on Tuesday, which was one of the biggest days for Bollywood last week, Kantara made over Rs2 crore at the box office!
What’s even more impressive about this feat is that Kantara was up against huge movies like Ram Setu (a Tamil-Telugu movie), Thank God and Black Adam (Hindi) – all three are making headlines because they’re breaking records and raking in billions at theaters nationwide yet here we have an underdog outperforming them… It feels great being able to witness something unexpected happening when you least expect it – especially for us viewers!
