It was no surprise that KGF 2 led the race among all other Hindi movies released this year, collecting large sums of money from audiences who came out in droves from across India. Alongside remarkable box office collections starting at release date, the film continued to flourish during its run with mass centers leading the charge at collection counters – though surely not enough to bridge the gap between first-day earnings and those made days later due to increasingly higher turnouts.
Despite this, numbers remained consistent on Sunday as a surplus of Rs. 9.27 crore helped push total earnings up to an impressive Rs. 369 crores while taking them beyond 350 crore rupees ($51 million USD). In addition, concurrent decreases are expected but with it being an Eid holiday tomorrow we can expect a marked improvement thanks to increased showings throughout the day and evening which may send these figures even higher than what they already are!
Meanwhile, the weekend turned out to be profitable for Runway 34 with Rs. 5.5 crores collected on Sunday alone! But there was only an increase of 1.2 crore rupees from Friday to Saturday, which isn’t much considering what happened with Saturday and Sunday’s collection. Still, this shows that interest is steadily building over time even though it may not always show visibly in numbers or raw dollars.
The box office performance relies heavily upon how much money comes in before Tuesday ends – if total earnings reach around Rs. 13 crores by then then we’ll have exceeded the expectations of what will happen at this point during its first week and when all is said and done, somewhere between Rs. 30-40 crore rupees will have been earned domestically (with these totals translating roughly into U$S 3-4 million).
