Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer crime thriller Drishyam 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. The upcoming sequel will jump ahead seven years after Vijay Salgoankar manages to escape from charges related to murder. The popularity of the first installment, as well as its trailer, has had an overall positive effect; evidenced by advance ticket sales in three major theater chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis – which are already at capacity for opening day. With just one day left until the movie release, Drishyam 2 has been able to sell over 100 thousand tickets for its opening…
Ajay Devgn’s latest thriller Drishyam 2, has scored the second biggest advance of the year for an outright Hindi film. The movie has clocked an opening day advance of Rs. 6.50 crores nett, which means before it even premiered it had already made six and a half crore rupees! Of those six and a half crores, about two point eight crores came from Mumbai’s leading cinema chains; PVRs, Inoxs and Cinepolis! This is way better than other Hindi movies like RRR (Hindi), 83 (Hindi), or Bhool Bhulayaa 2 (Hindi)! It also looks like Ajay Devgan’s new release will rank as…
In just three days, Bollywood Hungama has reported that advance bookings for the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer Drishyam 2 are outpacing those of its predecessor. This sequel is creating a lot of noise given how successful it was when it came out last year. It’s even making headlines now with an initial sale count of over 27 thousand tickets across the three major chains – PVR, INOX and Cinepolis – on just the first day alone. And while PVR reported selling 55 thousand five hundred nine tickets so far, they’re not too far ahead of competitors Inox and Cinepolis…

With three new Hindi movies entering theaters and two continuing to screen, it’s clear that Kantara (Hindi) is leading the pack. The trending so far is reminiscent of Pushpa (Hindi), which screened over a number of weeks before being dethroned by Allu Arjun starrer. Where they differ though is how much time was needed for Pushpa (Hindi) to become popular. From its first day out, all it took were consistent box office numbers to reach success. Conversely, Kantara (Hindi)’s popularity wasn’t recognized until after a few weeks in theaters– but only time will tell if this trend will continue or…
It’s happening right now for Kantara (Hindi) – with this new addition of Rs. 10 crores, they are in the range to reach the Rs. 100 Crore Club. Sure it’ll take time to cross that milestone but they will surely get there without fail! And if so, then we’ll all be waiting until they hit that big one hundred crore mark and then see what happens next! This week has seen the fourth week turn out to be truly remarkable, thanks in large part to reaching an all-time high of Rs. 70 crores*. All these weeks the movie has held…
With the kind of trend we saw this past weekend, some good hopes have been raised that there may just be a film with in it to finally break out. Yes, there had been event films that did quite well over the weekend and then continued on to do well even during weekdays. But when it came to non-event films, the trend has been sorely missed all throughout 2022. Moreover, for Uunchai it was also required that Monday collections were actually up from Friday – or else it wasn’t going to make its budget back; but considering how it doesn’t…

In compliance with expectations, the Sooraj Barjatiya directed movie started off well at the box office on its first day releasing with Rs. 1.81 crores being earned from ticket sales alone which translates into USD $3 million dollars when adjusted for inflation rates by today’s standards (1). Now on its second day running – due to increased demand in tickets for this blockbuster – it is also…
It was a fantastic launch of Marvel’s latest release of Black Panther – Wakanda Forever. Like its predecessor, Black Adam, this one too did not come with much promotion or advertisement and still found success among audiences here in India. Clearly, Marvel has established themselves within the country and as long as there are movies coming out of their own set superhero universe; people will purchase it regardless of when they came out during the week-end because eventually viewers would focus on what really matters: content. This also happened with this latest offering which managed to make an initial total…
