Kannada film Kantara directed and written by Rishab Shetty released recently. The Kannada language release has enjoyed widespread popularity from both audiences and critics. While it does have shortcomings, the film continues to thrive at the box office- adding to its total earnings for every day it goes without collapsing under insurmountable pressure from competitors like Bollywood films Ram Setu or Thank God. Some claim this feat deserves praise for director and screenplay writer, Rishab Shetty; hailing him a masterful filmmaker who had come up with quite a game changer. If that wasn’t enough, according to Amir Khan’s Box Office…
Films such as Thank God and Ram Setu both saw a decrease in business this past Monday, but that was to be expected with the festival season coming to an end. With so many holidays in there, most people who wanted to see them did so already. One would assume that after today we’ll see residuals from those who were either too busy or out of town during this time period. While Ram Setu had collected 6 crore rupees on Friday, they pulled in 3 more on Monday. Conversely, Thank God only made 1 crore 50 lakhs on Monday -…
Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra’s slice-of-life comedy, Thank God is a disappointing fare at the box office in India. After collecting Rs. 14.10 crore over the first two days, Thank God has collected in the range of Rs. 4.00 to 4.50 crores on its third day, taking the total collection to Rs. 18.10 crore (USD 290 million). These are lower numbers than many had anticipated for this Diwali release where it seems like it should have done significantly better based off of how much noise was made about it before its release date came up – which was primarily because…
As Christmas fades away and people head back home for the holidays, I’m left here feeling lonely. Box office numbers say otherwise though: Ram Setu had done fairly well this past week despite being released during the holiday period, so at least I know there will be some people coming back to watch my film after they’re done visiting family this week. But then when you consider how badly Thank God had been doing in terms of attendance- even worse than before – it seems obvious what’s going on here. Let’s talk about Ram Setu first. Taking an opening of…
Outside the event films like KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR, the other south dubbed movies that have done decently well at the box office this year are PS-1, Rocketry and Karthikeya 2. Well, Kantara [Hindi] already surpassed PS-1 [Hindi]’s score of Rs. 24.50 crores a few days ago and now it has exceeded Rocketry’s score of Rs. 26.05 crores too – for only 28 days! Soon after these scores surpasses Karthikeya 2’s lifetime earnings of Rs. 31.05 crores – but there was no telling when precisely that will happen yet! This film is an underdog – while there were many…
It was originally predicted that Ram Setu would do well at the Indian box office after releasing on a Monday. Yet, as the numbers are starting to surface over time – it looks like otherwise. On Wednesday – which is now Day 3 for the latest release- Ram Setu started looking grim when according to the early projections it only managed to collect between Rs. 7 and 8 crores; an increase of just 10% from Day 2 when it collected 27 crore rupees (according to another source). The bulk of these poor earnings come from rural areas as cinema goers…
After such a large celebration of Diwali, we all need time to recover from the festive fervor. But so far it seems that no one is taking advantage of these days off. Collections still seem down on this day and we can only hope they’ll pick up after Christmas. One thing is certain though: people will always want movies! Both Ram Setu and Thank God saw good numbers yesterday – even if they weren’t the best out of all days – but things might change tomorrow once people start going back to work. Ram Setu had an opening day collection…
The collections for Thank God was below expectations after the film opened at below par numbers. On Day 2, it collected around Rs.5.75 to 6.35 crore which made its 2-day total be about RS 14.25 crores – far less than what most people anticipated for this Diwali release starring Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh. After a disappointing beginning, the hope remained alive; at least for one more day to put up respectable numbers in the long run. But this sudden downturn has just set all hopes aside until and unless it miraculously turns things around within these…
Mehndi plays an important role at every Indian wedding. The intricately designed patterns may range from traditional designs, to geometrical shapes and abstract patterns. Designs can vary in size; some designs are large enough for both feet, while others fill only the palm of one hand. When designing these rounds or circle mehndi, large mandalas take up a lot of space on the foot or hand – providing an expansive backdrop for additional detail work that borders along the skin’s surface. In Kashmiri mehndi design, large circles cover nearly all of the palm and fingers before being filled with color…
Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai achieved an amazing feat at the box office on Monday by earning more than what it did on its opening day. After scoring Rs. 1.81 crores on Friday, the film saw an increase in numbers on Monday as it amassed Rs. 1.88 crores (3.87% hike), which is a rarity for movies – typically they go through a fall in numbers due to negative word-of-mouth/reviews or other factors that diminish foot traffic on Mondays while up against several other releases being released during the weekdays where people may want to save money and wait until Tuesday or Wednesday…
