It was a fantastic launch of Marvel’s latest release of Black Panther – Wakanda Forever. Like its predecessor, Black Adam, this one too did not come with much promotion or advertisement and still found success among audiences here in India. Clearly, Marvel has established themselves within the country and as long as there are movies coming out of their own set superhero universe; people will purchase it regardless of when they came out during the week-end because eventually viewers would focus on what really matters: content.
This also happened with this latest offering which managed to make an initial total of Rs. 12.50 crores * on the first day. Of course, Marvel movies have made bigger money before too but then Black Panther is a superhero character that’s still building its international fanbase so even such an impressive number on the first day is quite good – especially in these difficult times where nothing seems to be going right at the cinema halls.
Though the movie had made just Rs. 1.81 crores at its opening weekend, it was doing well considering there were barely any movies that came close to its success thus far – especially coming out of Big B Entertainment Company and directed by Sooraj Barjatya. Though Uunchai opened up in only a few theaters, most showings remained full even during peak hours on Sunday evening; so people wanted to see what this new film would have in store for them once they walked out of the theatre doors.
But it wouldn’t matter whether or not they continued coming back to see the movie until Tuesday or beyond if no one talked about it afterwards – which is why filmmakers carefully plan how many screenings they’ll make available while keeping different factors such as audience demographics, time constraints and earnings expectations in mind before agreeing upon a final release date for an upcoming movie with distributors around-the-world.
