The long–anticipated Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Shamshera was released to theaters last week, directed by Karan Malhotra and also featuring Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. It had a wide reach, both locally and internationally, yet failed to make a substantial impact, as reviews were mixed and viewers simply lacked interest. Sadly, the box office returns of the movie proved to be significantly underwhelming.
Abroad, Shamshera, released on 1200 screens, has experienced a tough time amassing satisfactory collection figures. Yash Raj Films’ enterprise earned a mere USD 1.63 million [Rs. 13 cr] in its initial week of exhibition overseas. Not surprisingly, the overseas district of the Middle East contributed the most, providing USD 563K. Subsequent to that, North America and Europe held the second and third highest revenue, procuring USD 532K and USD 161K respectively. Finally, the other foreign markets accumulated a total of USD 374K.
At the moment, Shamshera, which received unenthusiastic reviews, has almost vanished from cinemas. However, with the arrival of Ek Villain Returns this Friday, the film starring Ranbir Kapoor has suffered a massive setback. In the future, it is predicted by the trade that Shamshera’s business is unlikely to make any considerable progress.
