Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34 is taking flight and soaring through the weekend. After a shaky take-off, the movie is on its way up as far as box office numbers go. Early estimates show that it has raked in anywhere from Rs. 7 crore to 8 crore rupees so far – enough to bring its three-day opening weekend total close to 15 crore rupees. It opened with just Rs 3 lakhs but recovered later with gross earnings of 12 crores this Saturday. This number might seem small when one considers the stars attached, but there is an upward trend across the weekend so there is hope for sustaining these figures over the weekdays too; especially since there are holidays coming soon – both Eid days at Monday and Wednesday – which will give it even more opportunity to perform well at home screens nationwide.
A minor hold in collections on Monday may prove to be a decisive factor for how the movie does financially over the next few weeks. It appeals mainly to city-dwellers who happen to live in one of four big metropolitan areas, so when they’re talking about it – positive word-of-mouth will only mean good things. Things are looking up! If there’s anything at all going well with this film; then it would have been inevitable that today would also be an excellent day. But still, we’ll need a little bit more than what we’ve got right now before we can get our hopes up.
