Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan’s Runway 34 had an increase in collections by about 55 to 60 percent on Saturday. Our data suggests that the film has made around Rs. 4.75 to 5.25 crore on its second day for a two-day total of approximately Rs. 8 crore with no competition from other films released during this time period; which is unheard of.
This sudden increase could potentially mean a bump in revenue for Sunday too, as it falls well within a competitive price range for similar pandemic films (which typically grow by 30 to 40% on the second day). A slight decrease in percentage would still put Runway 34 at an estimated 6% increase in earnings – which would put it anywhere from 3 crores to 3 crores 1/2 per weekend – which will allow it to break into hit status if projections stay consistent over the next few weeks or so.
There are two main celebrations – Eid and Basi Eid, which take place on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively – that ought to bring in decent earnings for Runway 34. To make up for the losses incurred over this past weekend, we need to see a significant increase during these work days. This can happen if audiences genuinely appreciate the plot; because it means they’ll buy tickets. There’s a new movie coming out next week – Doctor Strange – which might be able to steal some of the attention from Runway 34 because of how similar it is to our story line; but then again, there could be stronger revenue collected over these next few days so long as we’re supported by audiences who genuinely love us.
