Ram Gopal Varma – or RGV for short – is an ostentatious filmmaker who seems to know his way around the industry. He recently made waves when he praised KGF: Chapter 2 and it’s director, Prashanth Neel, for displaying the true power of Kannada cinema. There can be no question that this second installment has done wonders for the morale of this wonderful cinema culture; however, it begs to ask how long will these effects last.
In a series of tweets on Friday, the filmmaker took digs at Bollywood for not being able to produce box-office successes like Southern films. Prashanth Neel’s KGF2 is not just a gangster film but it’s also a horror film for the Bollywood industry, he wrote on twitter.
In another tweet, he said that Yash is destroying the rest of Bollywood with his huge star power and blockbuster movies. Like very much how Rocky Bhai comes to Mumbai to machine gun the bad guys, He continued, @TheNameIsYash is literally machine-gunning all the Bollywood stars who are just opening collections and it’s final collection will be a nuclear bomb thrown at Bollywood from Sandalwood.
Ram Gopal Verma tweeted, I wonder what Bollywood would think of the opening numbers for KGF2 and Baahubali 2. They are both dubbed films.
KGF- Chapter 2 (Hindi) has crossed Rs. 100 crore already at the box office despite it being released in just 400 screens. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and Srinidhi Shetty. It is directed by Prashanth Neel
