Chiyaan Vikram starred as the leading man in Ponniyin Selvan which was released last week. Since its release, it has been making all the right money with audiences around the world, averaging to 98 million USD per day thus far. With a powerhouse cast including actors Trisha Krishnan (Kundavai), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Nandini) and Jayam Ravi (Arulmozhi Varman), this Mani Ratnam directed masterpiece has received almost universal acclaim from critics within India and overseas alike.
Now, after just nine days at the box office, Ponniyin Selvan has already managed to collect over 350 million rupees from worldwide ticket sales. Even before it had been released for a full week, Ponniyin Selvan had garnered up 308.59 million rupees – an astronomical feat that still amazes audiences even weeks later. In its second week of release, the film only increased in popularity with viewers buying tickets day in and day out; especially on Days 8 and 9 when they collected another 15.47 million rupees and 26.72 million rupees respectively – bringing the total collections so far to well over 356 million rupees within such a short amount of time!
Going further into Ponniyin Selvan, it’s predicted that due to the lack of notable competition at the box office will cause this film’s earning potential to grow considerably. With trade prediction estimating this movie could reach close to Rs 400 crores before its second week comes to an end.
