Some truly enormous records are being broken, and how. Even though a big Sunday is still yet to come, this massive Thursday opening means that Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 [Hindi] is on solid ground and has been able to defeat some of the most powerful Bollywood films released up until this point.
If the first three day numbers for the Yash Starrer are any indication, then it has gone past the best weekends ever scored by as many as three Salman Khan films and one Prabhas film while also defeating two Ranbir Kapoor films; all which are currently in the top five spot. These include Baahubali: The Conclusion, Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai, Race 3 and Sultan–let’s take a look at them now.
On Saturday, KGF- Chapter 2 (Hindi) earned RS. 42.90 crores at the box office, which is a phenomenal number yet again! As a result, the first three day total of the film stands at RS. 143.64 crores with this achievement now placing it officially as the best ever when it comes to the first three-day totals ever recorded, including Baahubali: The Conclusion (RS. 128 crore), Sanju’s opening weekend collection (Rs 120 crore). Moreover, not only has it crushed numerous records set by Salman Khan films but also broke all previous box office records among Hindi releases as well!
Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai (released during Christmas) made more than Rs. 114 crores, while both of his Eid releases Race 3 and Sultan (both released over the past weekend) combined to rake in nearly another Rs. 107 crores.
Against this overwhelming competition, Kangana Ranaut’s latest film KGF – Chapter 2, which is just a few days old now, will soon see if it can surpass Baahubali: The Conclusion’s record of collecting almost Rs. 247 crore within seven days from its release date (January 24).
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources.
