The Yash starrer KGF- Chapter 2 opened up to a phenomenal response four weeks ago, breaking records and bringing back memories of Bollywood films from the early 2000s. With an estimated budget lower than most Hollywood blockbusters but some of the biggest opening numbers ever seen in India, this movie quickly managed to surpass Rs. 100 cr (USD$1.5 million) and Rs. 200 cr (USD$3 million). It crossed the Rs. 300 cri (USD$4 million) mark shortly after – then went even higher to reach Rs. 400 cri (USD $5 million) faster than any other Indian film before it – all within only five weekends at the box office!
This box office report for KGF – Chapter 2 will explore how the movie is doing in terms of its fifth-weekend sales, and compare it to other films from 2022 that have done well up until now. After adding up all the money from the past five weekends, we’ve noticed that KGF – Chapter 2 has become the highest grossing film out of these films; earning Rs. 6.35 crores so far.
Compared to earlier releases like RRR (which earned Rs. 3.32 crore) or The Kashmir Files (which made Rs.2.5 crore), KGF – Chapter 2’s earnings are higher than theirs too! And interestingly enough, despite being released around the same time as some new movies coming out over the next couple weeks, people still seem to prefer going to see KGF more than any other recent release when they’re choosing a movie theater experience!
