The Kashmir Files – which was directed by Vivek Agnihotri and released on the 19th – received a good response from theatre goers, who rushed to watch it within hours of its release. After being premiered in about 650 theatres at first, the film took off successfully and had an increase in screens over this weekend (from Saturday-Sunday). This enabled them to earn Rs. 27,150 crores from just those two days alone! On Mondays when it was back at the cinema for people to come see it again (this time with still more success!), it saw no drop off from what had been seen on Sundays before.
In this Box Office Report, we take a look at the First Monday Collections of The Kashmir Files while comparing them to past releases. Collecting Rs. 15.05 cr., The Kashmir Files managed to out perform past releases such as Padmaavat, Singham Returns, Sooryvanshi and 3 Idiots who collected respectively Rs. 15 cr., 14.78 cr., 14.51 cr., 10.97cr on their opening day in theaters during their release days. Not only that but even when compared against other films released after the pandemic – it has outdone Gangubai Kathiawadi’s first Friday collection which was around 8 crore and 83’s which was 7 crore on its opening day.
Currently, The Kashmir Files still has a lot of fans and remains their favorite movie in theaters. With all the people coming out to watch it over the past few days and with such an appreciative trend for films these days, some traders predict that the movie will make a lot more money this week than last. Some also predict that if business stays steady at this rate – which seems likely considering how popular The Kashmir Files has been so far – then by Friday (or maybe even sooner), it’ll reach over Rs. 100 crores!
