Vivek Agnihotri’s much-talked about film, The Kashmir Files, released on Friday to a mixed response. Interestingly though in the run up to its release, The Kashmir Files found itself in the midst of plenty of controversy—but with all that hype surrounding it, audiences are waiting for it with bated breath! A reflection of this was evident in its opening day collection: Rs 3.55 crores came rolling in during Saturday alone.
Now on Saturday Day 2, the business of the film saw growth with Rs. 8.50 million coming in at theaters from Friday’s Box Office intake. Interestingly, the audience response to the film has been very positive which is evident from the increasing popularity of this recent release over other films such as Radhe Shyam and Gangubai Kathiawadi which came before it. This reaction has prompted theater chains and owners to increase screen time slots as well as show times for these days/nights – such measures are being taken because both viewers and theater staff have expressed an interest in seeing more of this movie!
Besides seeing an increase in number of screens and shows, The Kashmir Files that has collected Rs. 12.05 crores in two days, has also seen a surge in advance bookings as well. In fact, with the overwhelming response to the film, the makers who initially planned for a limited release have since increased screens to accommodate the audience. Given this current growth rate- projected numbers are looking good for both weekdays and weekends!
