With three new Hindi movies entering theaters and two continuing to screen, it’s clear that Kantara (Hindi) is leading the pack. The trending so far is reminiscent of Pushpa (Hindi), which screened over a number of weeks before being dethroned by Allu Arjun starrer. Where they differ though is how much time was needed for Pushpa (Hindi) to become popular. From its first day out, all it took were consistent box office numbers to reach success. Conversely, Kantara (Hindi)’s popularity wasn’t recognized until after a few weeks in theaters– but only time will tell if this trend will continue or if more people will catch on next week!
The film has been performing exceptionally well in the past few weeks and it looks like it will continue its success for one more week, seeing how it has already managed to rack up Rs. 84 crores since its debut last month! With collections worth close to Rs. 100 crores, it proves yet again how mainstream films are catching up and giving Bollywood a run for its money- an opportunity most studios wish they could grab this easily.
PhoneBhoot is unlikely to make more than Rs. 20 crore because it can’t seem to catch up with its initial hype when it was released last week – even though the weekend saw a rise in revenue figures. Unfortunately, today’s earnings have been less than what they should be and so far, PhoneBhoot has only reached over Rs. 10 crore after three days of release; which leaves us projecting that this movie will make around Rs. 18-20 crore this entire week if not more.
