Having released to impressive numbers for Alia Bhatt, Raazi was able to accumulate Rs. 123.84 crores during its entire lifetime run – an accomplishment it easily overshadowed when put up against films such as Meghna Gulzar’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, of which initial expectations were low – thus holding onto a strong touch-and-go presence since the very first Women’s Day screening on March 8th (to what would eventually amount to a whopping Rs. 104 crore).
It seems as though things are only beginning, too; with good showings early Wednesday and Thursday afternoon signaling the end of a successful first week which saw the film nearing Rs. 120 crore*, averaging an incredible ₹4 lakh per hour spent in theaters across India**– all without getting into social media campaigning for promotion purposes — ultimately running out of time just shy of passing the ₹100crore mark.*
As of now, the film seems to be doing well primarily in Maharashtra. The city where the story takes place is Nagpur, but there has been an increase in collection since the movie was released and we’ve seen it come back after a downfall on its first day. So far there has been Rs. 11.30 crores collected worldwide and that’s some relief considering its opening day earnings of just Rs. 1.5 crores – not bad considering other new releases such as Radhe Shyam and The Kashmir Files have been recently released onto theatres as well, which brought down numbers for Jhund slightly at first glance but eventually increased them so we can see if it keeps increasing until it gets close to or over 20 crores!
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
