Drishyam 2 became an immediate blockbuster at the box office with their first week grossing over Rs. 100 crores. With so many films now having difficulty earning enough money to enter into the Rs. 100 Crore Club, Drishyam 2 was able to do this within just 7 days – this is incredible! A result of a good opening weekend and excellent daily growth, Drishyam 2 stayed steadily popular throughout the weekdays without dropping off significantly in its earnings from Sunday-Thursday – which is what leads to a film seeing success even after its theatrical release ends.
As of now, the film stands at Rs. 104.66 crores and in the process it has gone past the lifetime numbers of biggies like JugJugg Jeeyo (Rs. 85.25 crores), Vikram Vedha (Rs. 77.51 crores), Ram Setu (Rs. 71.62 crores), Samrat Prithviraj (rs. 68.05 crores) and Laal Singh Chaddha (Rs 103 raqs). And so there are other movies which probably deserved to have a longer run than this one but then you never know what will happen next year when 2022 comes around again so there’s no telling how things might go from here on out.
In its modest way, Uunchai has made a contribution towards the efforts of this cause too. The film had garnered Rs. 17.02 crores in revenue over the course of one week from being screened only in certain theaters due to lack of promotion. When news spread about how well it was received among audiences even before mainstream media reported on how successful it was, people were eager to catch screenings despite production costs rising sharply for Sooraj Barjatya’s latest outing; Drishyam 2 – taking away any chance that remained with finite demand and increased supply during this time period. With just under Rs. 9 crores coming in over the second weekend, the film finished off with Rs. 26.42 crore gross revenue after two weeks because supplies overtook the demand despite the latter being much higher before hand given who promoted or showed us what we wanted to see while distributing content online or via Satellite TV networks respectively.
