Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 is doing remarkably well at the box office in India according to early estimates. On Saturday, the second day of its release, it showed a jump from Day One which would fall somewhere between 45% and 50%. As for Collection figures on Saturday alone, it would have raked anywhere between Rs. 21.75 – 23 crores. The film seemed unstoppable with increases all across the board – even more so with multiplexes jumping by an astounding 50% while single screen theaters increased by around 30%.
Drishyam 2 recorded the biggest Saturday jump for a film opening in double digits post-pandemic times. This trend parallels what would happen before pandemics were common place, making this a very promising sign for Ajay Devgn’s latest release. It remains to be seen how the weekend holds up, but Drishyam 2 is certain to exceed expectations and become successful.
In just two days, Drishyam 2 has also emerged as the highest-grossing Ajay Devgn film of the year by exceeding his previous two releases, Runway 34 and Thank God. And what is even more impressive is that it took only four short days for this film to accomplish something so extraordinary.
Drishyam will experience an increase in sales during this Sunday and the first weekend is expected to be around Rs. 60 crores. Multiplexes were always anticipated to give Drishyam a boost due to its high recall value from the previous films, but single screens are also doing well for themselves too; which nobody expected at all. It’s clear that both trailers combined with the star-studded cast has created this perfect storm of hype; especially since many popular 90s actors are coming together after so long – Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Akshaye Khanna (alongside other major players).
The two-day collection of Drishyam 2 is approximately Rs. 38 crore. This breather comes as a blessing for Ajay Devgn who has three films lined up after this one – Badlaa, Bhola, and Bhoolohar – all featuring in the top ten list which will make it hard to pick from them!
