It was the best day ever for Bollywood releases for over one year with the combined collections of Mumbai Saga and Roohi turning out to be Rs. 4.76 crores. Add to that a bit of numbers that Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar brought in as well and the total is near the Rs. 5 crores mark.
Mumbai Saga sawsurge on Sunday, with a 40% increase in figures from Saturday to Sunday, bringing in Rs. 3.52 crores. This is significant as it followed a decrease from Friday to Saturday (from Rs. 2.82 crores to Rs. 2.40 crores). The box office performance of this John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi collaboration will now be closely watched, particularly to determine its stability on the weekdays, which will be a crucial factor in determining the overall success of the Sanjay Gupta movie.
Roohi’s office performance has been relatively successful, grossing Rs. 20.35 crores since its release. With Rs. 1.24 crores earned on Sunday alone, it is clear that audiences are sustaining the movie. If this momentum continues, the Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma starrer is likely to surpass Rs. 25 crores before the third weekend is over.
