After Brahmastra, there was finally a Bollywood film that would open up big enough to guarantee at least some measure of success. There were high hopes for the film since it followed in the footsteps of successes like Drishyam and this time it managed to live up to those expectations with good reviews from critics as well as audiences. This might just be one of those films with strong national appeal and even though the numbers weren’t too impressive so far it still managed to retain a lot of recall value among loyal fans over the years – which will most likely turn out to be very important in determining how successful this particular venture is going to be in the long run.
This is the reason why from the day Drishyam 2 was announced, it received immediate attention. When released in Malayalam on OTT before this release, there was high curiosity about what Hindi audiences would think about the film. The filmmakers took advantage of opening early advance booking to gain more traction in media coverage, and soon enough many people were expressing their amazement through social media channels. Within a couple of days, ticket sales for this movie became some of the best seen so far for 2022 year-to-date after Baahubali: The Conclusion came out this year.
The results were available for everyone to see with a whopping Rs. 15.38 crores coming in – an impressive amount, surpassing all expectations up until this point. Though it did seem as if people would have high standards for the film due to its standard ratings now, but with numbers at least double that of expectations from only last week (despite being lower than expected) we can’t help but feel excited about what’s next for Ajay Devgn’s suspenseful drama!
