The high-profile movie Yash starring in the blockbuster hit KGF -Chapter 2 released over a week ago. With an extensive four day weekend, there were plenty of screens available for viewing as well as tickets being sold at a rapid pace. It didn’t take long for this chapter to earn over 100 crores (1 billion rupees) within five days. To date, this movie has crossed 200 crores ($2 million) which is triple what Chapter 1 earned before release! And now, with less than one week left to go, there’s no telling just how far it’ll go…
The Hindi film KGF – Chapter 2 was released last week and garnered good reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Compared to the biggest hits in Indian cinema such as Baahubali 2 or even Bahubaali 1, it seems that KGF – Chapter 2 still holds its own at the box office raking in 268.63 crore (equivalent to ₹240cr) over the first weekend which is amazing considering the budget for the movie was only 50 crores.
Though it doesn’t top off some of India’s all-time blockbuster openings like Tiger Zinda Hai or even Salman Khan’s Sultan where they grossed over 200 crore($28million), this debut proves something of major interest: if given enough time with success stories like these pushing audience expectations higher every year, one can only wonder what would happen when smaller films make their way up next!
Currently still running in theatres, Chapter 2 of KGF seems poised to make a lot of money over the next few days. With the popular movie Jersey opening this week, everyone is expecting there to be less people coming out for KGF – but surprisingly enough, it doesn’t seem like it’ll happen at all. Trade expectations say that with how things are going now, KGF could easily break $300 million by the end of this weekend.
