After two back-to-back box office hits worth 250 crores each in the form of The Kashmir Files and RRR (Hindi), it is time to now celebrate yet another milestone; crossing 300 crores at the Box Office. This feat was never accomplished before, something that distinguishes this film from all others. After achieving this milestone last Saturday morning, KGF – Chapter 2 continued to break records set by all previous movies – even beating out Dangal, which went on to become India’s highest grossing movie so far.
KGF remains undefeated when it comes down to breaking through a 300 crore barrier within less than 10 days; no one else can claim victory here either. But while SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali films still lie ahead, Prashanth Neels first true blockbuster should overtake Dangal for second place without any problems at all.
The results have been beyond expectations thus far, considering the large number of screens and shifts utilised. But an even bigger surprise has come from Punjab where the collection shot up almost five times over what was expected and netted them eight-lakh rupees alone in multiplexes*. It finally helps the family emerge victorious against all odds, proving to be yet another epic saga whose true potential may only show up once it reaches masses across regions outside India.* However, there are indications that some losses were suffered elsewhere including mass exodus outside auditoriums whenever National Anthem played during screening* or scenes showing Vinod Khanna drawing guns with his arm twisted behind his back were shown; as per reports obtained by box office india.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
