Much discussed and highly anticipated for years, KGF – Chapter 2 released to theaters a little over one week ago. Starring Yash in the lead role, it succeeded at attracting masses from across the country during its first few weeks of release. Currently on its second weekend of screening, it garnered respectable figures with great potential for future earnings.
Collecting an outstanding amount of roughly Rs 5012 crores so far (equivalent to $800 million US dollars), it has beaten the record set by Aamir Khan’s Dangal who took thirteen days to amass $780 million US dollars . Now ranked amongst India’s top five most successful movies ever made domestically after only eleven days of release, KGF- Chapter 2 is fast becoming one of India’s biggest money makers as well as world cinema history maker too!
If that wasn’t enough, KGF – Chapter 2 has managed to cross the Rs. 300 cr threshold for total box office revenue. Meanwhile, when comparing this movie to earlier Hindi dubbed releases, KGF 2 is only the second film after Baahubali 2 to make it across the Rs. 300 cr point in terms of money made from ticket sales. For now, even though there are newer movies being released with KGF – Chapter 2 still running at theaters; estimates state that the movie will keep getting more successful and might even surpass how much money Aamir Khan’s Dangal made over its lifetime earnings which was around 387 million rupees according to recent reports.
