Just a few days ago, Bollywood Hungama wrote about the successful performance of Yash starrer KGF- Chapter 2 at the box office. With one week gone by since its release, it is still managing to hold up against newer releases and rake in good earnings from ticket sales. In this report, we will analyse some aspects of how well KGF-Chapter 2 has performed so far and what might be coming next for the film.
Crosses Rs. 50 cr: Being one of the most anticipated films, acclaimed by critics and fans alike; it was no surprise when KGF – Chapter 2 had an outstanding opening weekend. Indeed, surpassing expectations and predictions, the Yash starrer opened with a thunderous ovation – earning over Rs. 53 million on its very first day! This includes the title being rated as the all-time highest opening day grosser as well as what is now known to be India’s largest ever single box office collection for a theatrical release.
Crosses Rs. 100 cr: Collecting an additional Rs. 46.79 crores on its second day, KGF-Chapter 2 crossed the 100 crore mark within two days of its release. With that total amount collected at Rs. 100.74 crores, it has now surpassed other blockbuster films such as Baahubali 2, Dangal, Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai and War to become one of the fastest movies ever to hit the 100 crore milestone.
Crosses Rs. 150 cr: Given the insanity surrounding the film, it wasn’t surprising when KGF- Chapter 2 managed to hit a box office net worth of Rs. 151 crores within four days. With two out of those four days having an overall collection amounting to Rs. 50 crores or more, KGF-2 soared ahead of Baahubali-2 and became only the second movie in history (to have done so). On top of this, this feat was accomplished in less than half the time taken by Baahubali-2, which took fifteen months to reach its benchmark figure at 165 crore rupees domestically against 151 crore for KGF-2 after just one month.
Crosses Rs. 200 cr: After having a successful opening weekend and earning 1/4th of its revenue, the following Monday showed that people were still interested in this movie, as it raked in Rs. 25.57 cr. With a total collection over 200 crores with only five days of being released, KGF-Chapter 2 has been able to create history by surpassing other films previously released that were thought to hold the title for longest time being at 1st place on the list of highest grossing films; making it rank.
Crosses Rs. 250 cr: After bypassing the Rs. 100 cr. and Rs. 200 cr. mark, KGF 2 continues its rampage through cinemas around India with an impressive collection of Rs. 255.05 cr., setting a new record for fastest grossing movie of all time after just one week in theaters.
Crosses Rs. 300 cr: KGF-Chapter Two has been running successfully for over a week. With daily revenue figures hovering around Rs. 20 crores, the film has quickly become one of the top 10 highest grossing films in India and it’s only been out for 11 days! Collecting Rs. 321 crore so far, KGF2 is now joint in third place with Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion on India’s list of all time top 10 most successful films and breaking records every day!
Crosses Rs. 325 cr: On its 12th day running KGF 2, which managed to overcome competition from new releases, drew in a further Rs. 8.28 cr. taking its total collections past the Rs. 325 cr. mark. Collecting Rs. Rs. 329.4 cr. in 12 days, the film has set yet another record.
Crosses Rs. 350 cr: After going down an amazing path at the box office, KGF 2 that has been dominating for quite some time now surpassed the Rs. 350 cr. mark on its 16th day. In spite of new releases such as Runway 34 and Heropanti 2, Yash’s starer remained as everyone’s first choice when going out to watch movies in theaters.
Going forward, KGF – Chapter 2 has been very well-received by the audience. Trade predictions predict that the profit made from this movie could reach around Rs. 400 crores in just a few days time. In fact, it is expected to go up even higher with audiences seeing an uptick in its profits when people come out for Sunday’s release of the film on Eid.
