One of the most anticipated movies of recent times finally arrived and opened to unprecedented fanfare. Holding up well after its first weekend, Box Office Collections grew steadily for nearly every successive week as it dominated screens. Even when faced with new releases vying for viewer attention during the 3rd week run; ‘KGF- Chapter 2’ was one undisputed box office champion – taking home Rs. 49.14 cr!
The movie became only second ever third weekend grosser to surpass RsM Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion (Rs 69.75cr) in earnings with total collections including shares from India & Overseas markets clocking close to $6 million (₹43 crore). Without mentioning names, the said Bollywood films ended up collecting either half or a quarter than what KGF2 made in 3 weeks respectively (PK — 45.10cr).
Going forward, KGF-Chapter 2 which still continues to run, is expected to face stiff competition from the new release in the form of the Hollywood blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Though it may occupy a significant number of screens, trade predictions state that KGF2 which has collected RS 401.80 crore so far will continue its excellent streak at the box office and inch closer towards the Rs 450 crore mark.
