Some time last week it passedRs.100 Cr and thenRs.200 Cr as well – but now there are new numbers to discuss- likeRs.400 Cr! And where does one go once they’ve made it that far? They enter an exclusive class with Baahubali2 -the conclusion becoming just one other person who accomplished something no other movie can duplicate!
After surpassing other blockbusters including Baahubali: The Conclusion, KGF 2 racked up over Rs. 333 million in twelve days of screening. Yet even this latest triumph could not prepare us for the way moviegoers continue to clamor for these cinema halls playing this gritty saga featuring Yash as protagonist, Rocky Bhai.
Enthralled and simultaneously broken hearted by the thrilling story, many who walked out found themselves speechless; caught between elation that they finally saw an honest-to-goodness gangster flick coming through unabashedly or frustration because now they had no idea what will come next when considering where the sequel can go given how Rocky’s time line was abruptly cut off with revenge complete but unfinished business left behind–business he had done much too soon without regard to consequence.
Crosses Rs. 250 cr: After blitzing into the Rs. 100 cr. and Rs. 200 cr. club, KGF 2 continued its domination at the box office, raking in over Rs. 250 cr. in seven days. With a collection of Rs. 255.05 cr. the Yash starrer has set a new record of being the fastest grosser. Crosses Rs. 200 cr: After enjoying an extended four-day opening weekend, which saw collections soar, the first Monday business of KGF 2 did not witness a drastic drop. Collecting Rs. 25.57 cr. on Day 5, the total collections of the film managed to go past the Rs. 200 cr. mark. Once again, setting a new record, KGF – Chapter 2 collected Rs. 219.56 cr. in 5 days, surpassed previous releases to become the all-time fastest Rs. 200 cr. grosser.
Crosses Rs. 150 cr: Given the insane craze for the film, it came as no surprise when KGF – Chapter 2 made it past the Rs. 150 cr. mark in just four days. Collecting over Rs. 40 cr. on four consecutive days, with two of these days recording collections in excess of Rs. 50 cr., KGF 2 blitzed past the Rs. 150 cr. mark in record time. In fact, the film also surpassed Baahubali 2 as being the only film to have four consecutive Rs. 40+ grossing days.
Crosses Rs. 100 cr: Following an extra revenue of Rs. 46.79 cr., the production company for KGF- Chapter 2 has met its target to collect over Rs. 100 crores less than two days after its release date (Rs 50 crore). This puts this movie at seventh on the list, having beaten movies such as Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Dangal.
Crosses Rs. 50 cr: Despite being arguably one of the most talked about releases in recent years and a heavily advertised brand new movie, many experts were expecting it to debut poorly due to these factors; however there’s no denying that KGF- Chapter 2 shocked everyone when it earned approximately 51 crore rupees ($7 million) on Day 1 of release – $1 million more than second placed Sanju with 49 crore rupees.
Besides this, KGF – Chapter 2 has also established new benchmarks for Yash and the film’s director Prashanth Neel by becoming their first release to gain entry into not just the Rs. 100 crores, but even in Rs. 200 crores club, which made them more than successful. If that wasn’t enough, they were able to break yet another record when they became India’s fourth highest grossing movie ever, with a total of around Rs 600 crores! Given the fact that KGF 2 still continues to run despite new releases hitting screens it is expected that the film will see further progress in terms of collections over the coming days.
