It was another successful weekend for the producers and distributors, who brought in about Rs. 90 crores each from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (in its first week) and KGF: Chapter 2 [Hindi] (after four weeks). For most theaters where both movies played, occupancy rates remained high enough to make it worth it for them.
Let’s talk about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness first. The film made Rs. 79.50 crores this past weekend, which is an increase from its opening day at Rs. 27.50 crores and yet again on Sunday at 25.40 crores . Though this was not as big of a success, it is still highly admirable because the movie has been keeping up its excellent performance so far–even holding the fourth largest opening weekends for a Hollywood movie in India after Avengers: End Game , Avengers: Infinity War , and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
On the other hand, KGF: Chapter 2 [Hindi] too had an exciting weekend of Rs. 14.85 crores with Sunday contributing quite well again with Rs. 6.25 crores coming in. The film is going strong at theatres as those who enjoy their masala entertainment continue to step in and watch it – which was also true for Pushpa [Hindi] and RRR [Hindi]. This led to both these movies going far ahead of just the opening numbers and consolidating themselves further – which has been exactly what’s allowed KGF: Chapter 2 [Hindi] currently stand at Rs. 412.80 crores, making it a hot ticket item for theaters nationwide!
