It was a saddening Monday for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Rs. 8 crores* more came in – the film had taken a start of Rs. 28.50 crores so compared to that the Monday fall is more than 70% which is bad. The film had stayed consistent right through the weekend, but then there wasn’t much of a growth and on Sunday, it’s collection dropped to Rs. 25.40 crores – this also meant that while it did quite well primarily on the power of advance booking and hard-core Marvel fans, it still needed just about another week or two before release date to reach its climax goal of Rs. 79.50 crores
Now from here it’s about keeping at least a little bit of momentum going for us to hit the 125 crore mark. In order for that to happen, Monday had to be successful and since that didn’t turn out well for us, we’ll just have to see what happens next Thursday. So far, the film has collected 87.5 crores* and if everything goes well this week, then we should expect them to hit 100 crore club soon enough; but our goal is really 125 crore total across all formats.
As for KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) – the film has had a huge success! It’s now at Rs. 425 crores in total, which should not be difficult to reach within the next two weeks. Thus far, the movie has collected just over 414 crore rupees*, with Monday adding an additional Rs. 2 crore rupees*. Though this is still significantly more than other average films make by the end of their 4th week – it’s also impressive because KGF2 only made around 3 crore rupees* per day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – its lowest three days so far. By April 27th or 28th – depending on when you’re reading this – Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Dhaakad will release and take over many screens from KGF2; however well before that time though, KGF2 will have already broken records as one of India’s greatest blockbusters of all-time.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
