The Don movie starring Sivakarthikeyan and Priya Arulmohan was released this past week in both the domestic and international markets. And it seems that it is doing quite well worldwide! This past weekend in America, for example, Don took $282,566 (Rs. 2.2 crore) from only 200 screens- ranking 17th on the all-time list of top-grossing weekends over there.
It also had success when it came to Canada– gathering $5381 (Rs. 4.19 lakh) from just two screens; 36th place on the weekly rankings there too! And as we mentioned before, it seems to be performing quite well in Europe too- namely in the United Kingdom and Ireland; where it ranked 38 out of 45 movies running currently (37th among all movies playing).
Occupying the 13th spot on the list of highest weekend grossers, Don managed to collect Rs. 79.95 lakhs from 36 screens, while in Malaysia the film drew in Rs. 69.54 lakhs from 22 screens, with a further Rs. 62.82 lakhs coming in from 36 screens in Australia. However, in the overseas markets of New Zealand and Singapore the film managed to draw in single digits with Rs. 6.14 lakhs from 8 screens and Rs 3.12 lakhs from 1 screen coming in respectively; Thus, overall business for this Tamil-language action thriller was fairly steady – nothing too exceptional here – considering it also was released across 16 other countries at once (although these numbers are yet unknown).
