The much hyped and highly publicized Akshay Kumar starring Samrat Prithviraj was released today, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and featuring Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood. This historical drama has been at the center of everyone’s attention these days, but will it live up to expectations?
Reports show that Samrat Prithviraj started off decently. According to sources, it got an occupancy rate of about 20% during early morning screenings. However, since the film was released with low publicity and promotions, most people in India did not know about it enough to come out to watch it on the first day. Still, according to analysts’ predictions, due to its release across 3750 screens (Hindi: 3550 + Tamil and Telugu: 200) – which will be tax-free for mass audiences – the movie may gross 11-12 crores rupees on opening day.
