Though it was met with mixed reviews, the Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 has continued to maintain its dominance at the box office. After hitting theaters hard on its initial release date, the film which had drawn praise from both critics and viewers alike quickly made waves within its first few days. However, despite newer movies being released during this time period, KGF – Chapter 2 remained a popular choice for moviegoers when choosing what they want to see in theater at any given time of day or night.
Especially among masses more so than upper-class sectors – who are typically restricted to matinees because of work commitments – interest in the film has remained consistent throughout the weeks since its release. No wonder then that even after reaching over Rs 1 billion gross collections worldwide (after just 4 weeks) – making it one of only four Indian films ever to cross this threshold – KGF –Chapter 2 surpassed another milestone by becoming one of India’s most successful locally produced films as well.
Interestingly, despite being released alongside two other films (Heropanti 2 and Runway 34), the Yash-starring KGF still managed to stay at number one. Trade estimates predict that it’ll keep up its domination of theatres while overshadowing these newer releases.
