SS Rajamouli’s RRR continues to blaze its way through the box office after earning over Rs. 14.50 crore (about $200,000) on Tuesday alone. Now at an estimated cost of Rs. 105 crores ($16 million) in India’s Hindi belt, it has become 3rd consecutive film of his to earn over Rs 50 crores ($8 million). It is doing exceptionally well around the country – Gujarat, Mumbai and Bihar are some of the best performing regions for this movie. Interestingly enough Delhi isn’t one of those states who doesn’t typically embrace South-dubbed films – instead they’ve done very well there so far which can only mean good things for future productions from his studio. Already boasting a huge star cast including Jr NTR and Ram Charan, it becomes not just another but possibly their most expensive release yet making them all winners here!
RRRT has already opened up for about 130 crores, which is a promising start! It looks like it might have a chance of passing the 200 crore club in just 2 weeks time and could end up with over 225 crores made. Distributor Pen Studios only needs 180 crores from Hindi theatres to break even which they’ll probably do before even finishing its 10 day run.
RRRT has emerged as the 5th successful movie out of the Pandemic following Sooryavanshi, Pushpa, Gangubai Kathiawadi and The Kashmir Files. Director SS Rajamouli now stands as India’s most famous director following his success with RRRT. Despite all the pressure building around him – he did what was necessary – taking home what was rightfully his – making sure we never forget his name or who exactly he really is–excellent!
