The Vijay Gupta-directed film ‘The Kashmir Files’, which just hit theaters two weeks ago, is still showing significant success. Though it had a successful opening weekend and first week, the business of the film saw an even larger spike in revenue on its second weekend. Following this, despite new films being released to screens last Friday – The Kashmir Files’ ticket sales remained steady throughout the rest of the week. In its third week now, it seems as though there may finally be some signs of slowing down for them; however at this point they are still performing remarkably well.
In this report, we compare the second Tuesday collection of The Kashmir Files against other recent releases. With a total revenue of Rs.2.75 crores, the latest release has outdone some top hits such as Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan which had grossed Rs. 2.63 crores and SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali – The Beginning which had collected Rs 1.77 crores in the first week by earning 9th place among all time third Tuesday grossers.
This was followed by further projections from trade analysts that predict that if it continues to lose momentum, then it will still earn an overall total of Rs 234 crore before completion of its theatrical run, surpassing both Baahubali – The Beginning and Bajrangi Bhaijaan in profit margin even though they earned much more than twice what The Kashmir Files did so far on just two days worth of ticket sales when compared to three weeks worth for The Kashmir File.
