The movie Rrr directed by SS Rajamouli was released last week on Friday. Starring, Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn this film has been taking over the Indian and International box offices alike. In fact, the hotly anticipated Rrr opened with a bang earning praise from both critics and audiences despite coming out at a time when Hindi films are unheard of internationally due to the influenza pandemic wreaking havoc across India earlier this year.
After an opening weekend, RRR has become a worldwide box office success, even managing to beat out Hollywood releases. Heavily invested domestically and abroad – it collected USD 9,500,000 [Rs. 72.13 cr.] here at home and an additional USD 53,709,000 [Rs. 407.79 cr.] internationally – totaling USD 63,209,000 [Rs. 479.92 cr] world wide altogether. With this blockbuster hit now reigning king of the charts with its vastly outstanding performance; topping all other Hollywood competition for the second week running thanks to an impressive round-up of USD 4,500,000 [Rs. 345.46 cr.] from just 77 international territories
Going forward, I’m confident the business from this movie is going to thrive as we head into the next week. Estimates say that if it maintains its current pace, then this film could very well end up being one of the biggest moneymakers of the year.
