SS Rajamouli’s much anticipated historical drama, RRR has been met with popularity at the box office after having made close to Rs. 710 crores- which places it among some of the highest-grossing Indian films. The film is competing solely against Baahubali 2 as its taken over all previous lifetime earnings of Indian movies (excluding China). It has also earned $21 million (160 crore) internationally while it made a grand total of 550+ crore in India alone ($1 = 65 rupees).
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana ranked as one of the most popular regions for RRR due to them earning about 250 crores combined, but even Hindi speakers loved this film enough to earn about 155 crore in a single week. On top of these great numbers, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu generated roughly 100 crores each while other regional languages put up an additional 50 crores.
The movie has been running wild across the globe, with overseas loops quickly approaching profit. Even if distribution in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana isn’t profitable at first, they’ll catch up soon enough – or so we hope. It’s important for everyone to turn a profit before the film finishes its run. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are predicted to do well this weekend – though Karnataka will be profitable soon after (since Kannada is booming). Beginning the second week of showing, Hindi versions can take over from other languages – since it’ll yield better sales anyways.
