The second Friday of RRR had been monumental for SS Rajamouli’s film, but this was nothing compared to the collections made on its ninth day. Already crossing Rs. 165 million, today is estimated at between Rs. 19-20 million which would mean the total amount earned from this action thriller is over the Rs 250 million mark and climbing steadily with no end in sight!
The star power behind these numbers is enough to make anyone jealous; including me who did not know about JRN or RC before them! As much as I am excited about how well they’re doing at the moment, it would be even sweeter if they could break records when they come back next year!
The reception was bursting at the seams with people wanting to catch a glimpse of one of India’s newest superstars. With an outstanding domestic collection of Rs. 190 crore, RRR had already made its way up the charts and found itself amongst some heavy company on Day 10. The movie was projected to reach over Rs. 200 crore by Tuesday and become the 2nd highest grossing Tamil film ever behind only ‘The Kashmir Files’.
It proved beyond doubt that Jnr NTR and Ram Charan were indeed bankable stars for Hindi audiences because RRR did phenomenally well in this area too, despite being dubbed in Telugu and Tamil languages respectively. This undoubtedly helped establish RRR as an undisputed pan-Indian blockbuster without prejudice towards language barriers.
