This week, we saw the much talked-about and eagerly awaited blockbuster movie KGF: Chapter 2 release, starring famous actor Yash in his second directing role. Opening up across ten thousand screens worldwide it was met with both popular acclaim from audiences as well as critical acclaim from reviewers. So far it has been doing well domestically and internationally.
With its release coinciding with yet another multimillion dollar production in the form of Vijay Starrer Beast, it seems that even when pitted against an opponent like itself, KGF Part 2 has beaten both records by far. A total grossing of 354,362 USD (US dollars) in Australia – despite being released alongside other languages such as Hindi and Tamil – proves just how popular this Telugu sequel is among audiences outside India.
And even within India, the film emerged victorious over competitors such as Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Petta at the Box Office. Though these numbers might seem small compared to industry titans such as Baahubali and Avengers: Endgame, they’re no less impressive for a debutant Indian language movie dealing with a serious subject matter.
