The Rohit Shetty-directed movie Sooryavanshi was released a few weeks ago to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, and Aja Devgn in main parts with cameos by Kajol and Shahrukh Khan respectively – the movie made it’s way onto screens worldwide and gained momentum as time went on. Without competition for a few weeks after post-lockdown conditions ended – people eagerly awaited what would happen with this new business venture.
In this Box Office Report, we take a look at the fourth week collections of Sooryavanshi while comparing them to other films with similar release dates. The film made Rs.6.43cr. during its fourth week and has emerged as the 21st highest Weekend Grosser in Bollywood history. What’s more surprising is that despite facing restrictions because of Covid-19 regulations, it fared better than Ranveer Singh’s Simmba that collected Rs.6.18cr over four weeks or Chennai Express which earned Rs 6.01 cr across four weeks respectively!
Though Sooryavanshi is still a long way off from surpassing the fourth week collections of certain other releases, its recent movie showings are high-demand events. In fact, based on how strong it has been this past month, it’s estimated that the total collection for Sooryavanshi – which amounts to Rs. 191.35 crore – will come close to reaching Rs. 200 crore at the Indian box office by next Monday.
