Yesterday, we saw how the much anticipated second chapter of KGF hit screens. After much talk and anticipation among audiences, there was a lot riding on the success of this movie for Yash (the actor). It surpassed expectations with advance ticket sales that garnered up to Rs. 31 crore from Day 1 screening alone. With this kind of positive response by audiences and appreciation coming from well-known industry members – it’s fair to say that things will only continue to go uphill from here.
In this report, we will be looking at how KGF- Chapter 2 fared in its debut compared to other recent films from last year. After collecting Rs 53.95 crore, it has managed to exceed the first-day collections of films such as RRR (Rs 20.07 crore), Bachchhaan Paandey (Rs 13.25 crore), Gangubai Kathiawadi (Rs 10.5 crores), Radhe Shami (Rs 4.44 crores) and The Kashmir Files (Rs 3.55 crores). This is not surprising considering how well it has performed during its release compared to other films coming out recently, outperforming them all by a significant margin.
Going forward, KGF2-which has been released to the widest audience possible at 10,000 screens worldwide -will undoubtedly overtake all other films in the Box Office. With over 5 days left before it closes out its opening weekend- predictions expect this movie to make tens of millions of dollars. It would make sense for us (the audience) to believe that even $150 million might not be an understatement when looking at how well this film is doing right now; and what it could do if given more time with audiences like you or me.
