What an extraordinary outcome it was! Naturally, records are set to be broken but when they’re broke by people who were least expected to do so – that’s a whole new experience. When War came out back in 2019 on Gandhi Jayanti, both Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff created history with the Siddharth Anand and Yash Raj Films’ production which opened up to the largest opening day ever, earning Rs. 51.60 crores for its Hindi version alone (plus another Rs. 1.75 crores from its Tamil and Telugu versions- totaling up to a whopping Rs 54.35 crore).
Now KGF-Chapter 2 (Hindi) has done the unthinkable by overtaking its predecessor in terms of box office performance. After earning Rs. 53.95 crore, it now stands as one of India’s most successful films ever made for this particular language alone! Even when adding together its original Kannada version and other South Indian releases to compare against the first-day grosses for Baahubali II: The Conclusion (which broke box office records across Hindi, Telugu and other versions), we can see that there is still no comparison; at least not yet.
It’s another commercial success for the Bollywood Box Office as yet another masala film sweeps in to sell tickets. War proved suave and slick; but KGF- Chapter 2 is raw and unapologetic, which is why it has gained so much attention. There will be a lot more films coming from this production company and we can’t wait! The first three days already beat all previous records and if they continue to do so then it may even surpass Sanjay Dutt’s record set with his movie ‘Sanju’. It’ll also be very interesting to see if Baahubali-2 ‘The Conclusion’ would finally take second place on the list of highest earning Indian films in history.
