KGF 2 is not a beast, but a monster. The gangster drama directed by Prashanth Neel has collected $44.75 to $46.50 dollars on Friday to take the two day total around the $100 million dollar mark. While the film does have a shot at clocking $100 million dollars in just two days, it all depends on how strong the single screens have held if they will maintain their momentum and pull through today as well. If there are numbers that rival those of Thursday for tiers 2 and 3 – KGF could become one of India’s top-grossing films ever without breaking any major records for length or numbers (which would be impossible considering it was dubbed with Tamil audio).
To collect Rs. 45 crores on a mere partial holiday is an impressive accomplishment and is a feat that might prove difficult to replicate in the coming months. The movie is now headed towards a four-day extended weekend upside of Rs. 180 crores. This makes it the largest opening day ever and its status as highest opening weekend in Hindi markets seems inevitable too- all while Yash becomes one of India’s premier actors. He needs to make wise decisions moving forward to avoid being replaced among Bollywood’s bankable stars – though thankfully he has his own production company so time will tell if he can maintain this success for himself or not; we’ll see about the next big release with KGF2- this sequel could either propel him further up or cause his position to worsen once again, but anything over Rs. 40 crores isn’t just impressive but instead historic.
