With a distinctive local flavor to it, Amitabh Bachchan starred Jhund saw better collections on Saturday as Rs. 2.10 crores came in. Of course, a large part of this number has come from the state of Maharashtra and that was anticipated too because of its heavy localized appeal. In fact, without Amitabh Bachchan leading the charge, even these numbers would have been difficult to reach; let alone thinking about finding an audience outside Maharashtra given how restricted this film is when it comes down to who will see it – considering how there are only slums depicted throughout which cuts out so much potential viewers…
So far the film has collected around Rs. 3.60 crores and it should come close to the 7 crores mark before the first weekend is through. A few weeks ago, Badhaai Do released and that movie started off similarly at Rs. 1.65 crores and then gathered Rs. 7.82 crores before its first weekend came to a close now Jhund too is following along this trend and one waits to see if in the first week it can garner Rs. 12.60 crores, just like Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar’s last movie did – they might’ve made a small dent in how Monday went because of Valentine’s Day but still overall it was huge success for them . And this time around with Jhund, hopefully all goes well so long as the movie manages to cover its costs from what we’ve been hearing about it so far!
