Akshay Kumar-starring Bachchani Pane, which has been making headlines because of its massive advertising campaign that has taken over all corners of India, finally released on Friday. The film received mixed reviews from audiences upon its first screening but it was well-received enough to open on a decent note. Still, last week’s release – Kashmir Files – continued to show in cinemas across the country and will undoubtedly take away some viewers from this Farhad Samji-directed venture.
In this box office report, we take a look at the opening day collections of Bachchhan Paandey while comparing the same to previous releases of 2022 so far. Collecting Rs. 13.25 cr on Day 1, Bachchhan Paandey ranks as the highest opening day grosser of the year. Previous films starring Alia Bhatt- Gangubai Kathiwadhi that collected Rs. 10.50 cr and Anupam Kher- The Kashmir Files that collected Rs. 3.55 cr pale in comparison when compared with Bachchan-Paanday’s success; only days ago both these films failed miserably with less than 2 crores each!
This could be due to either poor marketing or bad audience reception for such mediocre productions, but as it stands there is no telling how well they would do till next week when revenue comes out for them too; time will tell if numbers are meant to be for one movie or for all movies coming out this month!
