After an average start of Rs. 13.25 crore, Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhan Paandey has remained unchanged on Saturday to take two day total to approx. Rs. 26 crores according to early estimates while the collections are steady, the film has not shown any significant jump in business on Saturday and ideally because its opening was not optimal one would expect that it would show a jump or surge in business but instead it did not happen; which means that Bachchhan Paandey is now looking at an opening weekend of around Rs. 41 crores and depending on how this Sajid Nadiadwala production fares on Sunday and Monday will determine what happens for the rest of its run.
Made on a budget of approximately Rs. 180 crores (including Akshay Kumar fees), Bachchhan Paandey needs approximately Rs. 60-65 crores to break even and stay afloat; however, there is only Rs. 65 crore left to recover from theatre earnings due to the deficit in revenue made from other areas already recuperated–approximately RS 115 crore from non-theatrical sales as per trade estimates.
Opening at least 25% higher than usual during its first few days thanks to fierce competition with The Kashmir Files, this masala film appeared out of nowhere but had successfully managed to compete well alongside it for screen time and therefore theatre space too! In spite of all that happened, filmmakers were able to make themselves known throughout theaters due largely in part because Indian audiences really love their popular star Akki! Overall Saturday proved successful albeit having seen an overall slight dip across India including Mumbai while Gujarat experienced little change compared to Friday where they both finished around the same mark.
