This Friday, Ajay Devgn’s eagerly awaited sequel to his film Drishyam is set to hit theaters. The first installment created a cult following. Going by the advance booking report for Drishyam 2, this second part will likely perform well on its first weekend. So far, 77,105 tickets were purchased from among all three national chains – PVR (or Patterned Video Recording), Inox (Oriental Cinema Company Limited), and Cinepolis (Cinema City). It is also worth noting that this number only includes purchases until Wednesday afternoon so it can be assumed that the final tally will increase. With such attention coming in at every corner of society, this part of the series is starting off with an almost guaranteed 10% gross profit margin!
PVR has sold the highest number at 34,933. The numbers for Inox and Cinepolis are 27,375 and 14,797 respectively. As of today there was a total of 38,485 tickets sold on Fridays out of its 3 days worth of ticket sales (Friday+Saturday+Sunday). If you were to look at each day separately you would find that there were 38,485 tickets sold on Friday; 22,879 tickets sold on Saturday; and 15,741 tickets sold on Sunday so far – an average increase from 16%.
