Every year, Dubai’s iconic building – Burj Khalifa – delivers an awe-inspiring new year display on the skyscraper’s LED illuminated face. In 2019, the event was even more breathtaking than usual as it was revealed that this year would take you through the journey of the progress of Abu Dhabi. From there, various patterns and fireworks come alive before your eyes while they show gratitude to their heroes who made these achievements possible with a similar yet unique performance just last night.
About ten seconds before the new year, the countdown began. Ten got shouted out loud until there were only two numbers left: zero and one. At which point, fireworks go off behind me and everyone erupted with joyous yells. The cheering died down after about 5 minutes when it was time for the fireworks finale. And then all of a sudden, something amazing happened!
On top of one of Dubai’s most iconic buildings appeared some beautiful lights to accompany a stunning laser show across its facade. I knew right away that this building would soon become my favourite because this night turned out to be an unforgettable one – where everything seemed just perfect enough to make me happy again.
