At the ULTRA Awards in 2018, Anthony Costa, Regional Vice President of Jumeirah Group and Managing Director of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah said This property is all about passion, creating lifelong memories and to mesmerize guests at every moment. This statement isn’t just a cliche–it truly describes what this resort has always been. Not one to cut corners or take half measures, Burj Al Arab represents what both its legacy and new standards entail.
Having opened in 1999 making it 18 years old already, this luxury hotel doesn’t show signs of stopping anytime soon – if anything it continues to grow stronger with time. Built on an artificial man-made island which towers 1,053 feet into the sky while being 280 meters away from shoreline–this building is certainly unmistakable. Looking closer inside the hotel’s management team can tell you how committed they are to details because nothing happens without purpose here–even down to picking out luggage for your flight home!
Burj Al Arab’s Exterior
When you come near enough to see it, Burj Al Arab greets you with its shape – a sail made of steel and glass. The architectural design was inspired by the billowing spinnack of a j-class yacht and was created to serve as an iconic landmark for Dubai, much like how the Eiffel Tower serves as the icon for Paris or how Opera House serves as that for Sydney or how Big Ben does so for London or how the Statue of Liberty does so for New York City. Under leadership from multi disciplinary consultancy, Atkins led by architect Tom Wright; management and engineering responsibilities were fulfilled respectively by Canadian engineer Rick Gregory (also from Atkin)s who had been put in charge with constructing these three buildings namely: 1.Burj Khalifa 2.Burj al-Arab 3.Palm Islands.
Tom Wright states, The client wanted a building that would become an iconic or symbolic statement for Dubai; this is very similar to Sydney with its Opera House, London with Big Ben, or Paris with the Eiffel Tower. It needed to be a building that would become synonymous with the name of the city.
Burj Al Arab’s Interior
Supplied by UAE based Depa and clad in 24-carat gold, the hotel’s interior flaunts a grandiosely regal quality. It has been described as opulent, glamorous and advanced. In fact, given its splendor, it has been criticized. Burj Al Arab’s interior is, in fact, the exalted celebration of success despite surpassing powerlessness. It exposes you to the gritty futuristic fantasy of lavishness spilling over; monstrosity and magnificence reign supreme here – so much so that you may want to visit this breathtaking world just one more time before leaving for good. Furthermore, the interior has a soft, gentle and inviting glow throughout; it’s also adorned with these precious metals which are more prevalent than anything else inside Burj Al Arab.
The hallways and floors of the hotel were covered in every kind of statuary marble from Italy- the same material used by famous artist Michelangelo for his remarkable creations. All Suites, relatively large, combined Eastern and Western design styles. Each Suite had at least a King sized bed made from Eiderdown Duvets or Egyptian Cotton Sheets. Every suite boasted remote controlled environments to ensure comfort no matter what kind of climate outside may be like on any given day, see more about this under Burj Al Arab’s Suites below.
This hotel was quite liberated for being located in an Islamic area as they have a smoke-permitting policy. Offering edgy drinks such as Light Sweet Crude (using Foie Gras and Black Truffle Oil) or Scent of the Souk (with Oud Oil, Rosemary, Spices), this location is perfect if you’re looking for something outside the box. Furthermore – since you’re staying at Burj Al Arab – there’s even access to a private beach on the other side of the bridge just waiting for you! From sunbeds to mineral water, everything is completely complimentary when visiting this place; additionally, buggies are available to give rides throughout the hotel–including properties like Wild Wadi Waterpark!
Burj Al Arab’s Suites

You’ll never be bored or have trouble sleeping because when it comes to sleep comfort, they’ve thought of just about everything here – even offering different pillow combinations (14 varieties!) and a range of beds available.
